From our Portsmouth base (just off the A27 at Farlington), we provide print, mailing and design services across all sectors including: pharmaceutical, professional sports clubs, charities, education, manufacturing, theatres, venues and hospitality. Trusted by trade print professionals, 70% of our clients are marketing agencies, other printers, brokers and publishers.

 Pre-Press Manager
System Administrator (Level 2)

Pre-Press Manager

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Pre-Press Manager to join our team. This pivotal role plays a key part in our production process, requiring a strong understanding of pre-press, finishing, and printing operations. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and bring a positive, proactive attitude to the role. This is a Monday to Friday day shift requiring some flexibility with timing as work demands require. 

Main responsibilities

  • Help in the day to day running of a busy Pre-press department.
  • Set and monitor targets.
  • Train and motivate prepress staff to meet targets and requirements of the business.
  • liaising with clients and account managers.
  • Action pre-flighted of customer-submitted files as part of the automation
  • Troubleshoot any issues and, where necessary, correct files using Adobe Creative Cloud software products and Enfocus/Heidelberg plug-ins.
  • Communicate any queries or problems with production team members and account managers and ensure all client requirements are documented on Print IQ(MIS system)
  • Prioritise and manage workflow, ensuring all jobs are completed on time and within schedule.
  • Following all relevant health & safety, environmental and quality requirements when completing work.

Key requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years pre-press experience carrying out similar functions.

  • A good knowledge of MacOS and Windows systems

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products, namely Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro and Photoshop plus Heidelberg and Enfocus Pitstop plug-ins.

  • Previous experience with Heidelberg and Print IQ MIS (or similar software).

  • A high level of attention to detail and understanding of colour.

  • An excellent understanding of impositions and print production processes and practices.

  • Ability to adapt and function as part of a larger team.

  • Willingness to train and learn new skills as needed.

  • This is an 'in person' role and not available as remote or hybrid working.

System Administrator (Level 2)

Bishops Printers is proud to have invested in the latest and best technologies available. As part of our continued technology adoption projects, we require a skilled Windows / Azure System Administrator to join our technology team.

You will be responsible for infrastructure and user support, IT security, as well as playing a key role in future technology projects. Upcoming projects include further migration to the Azure platform, implementation of accountancy platform new features, ecommerce platform refresh, etc.

The ideal candidate would have, or be working towards, relevant and current Microsoft administration certifications, be able to administer Office 365, have strong networking skills and evidence of at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

Knowledge of commercial print is desirable, but it is not essential.

Relevant certifications include but are not limited to:

  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • Microsoft 365 Messaging Administrator
  • CompTIA Network + or CCNA

Candidate must have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience of application configuration, integrations and support.
  • Ability to create, test and execute DR plan.
  • Demonstrable experience of IT project implementation.

The position offers hybrid working with both on-site (at Farlington, Portsmouth) and working from home. Please note, no relocation package or visa assistance is offered.

Business Development Executive

We're looking to expand our sales division. If you're looking for a secure, fast-paced company and you are self-driven, confident and motivated, then we want to hear from you! This is a rewarding and exciting role. The ideal candidate will have a positive and enthusiastic outlook with an eye for detail and a passion for winning business.

As well as enjoying the challenge of a target and reward environment, the position is suited for a well-organised, quick learner, who can work well under pressure and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to the role.

The ideal candidate will need to have experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and will preferably have experience using a CRM system.

Previous experience in a B2B sales role is preferred but not essential (product knowledge and sales training will be provided). The successful candidates will be required to:

  • Work from an existing client database (no cold calls)
  • Follow up and convert estimates to orders
  • Proactively manage warm inbound leads
  • Develop relationships to maximise revenue potential
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Have a strong mentality to exceed all KPI's and objectives
  • Have an impeccable telephone manner
  • Manage customers expectations, whilst understanding their needs and requirements to give a consultative solution
  • Uncover opportunities to cross-sell the Bishops Group of companies; The Graphic Design House and The Mailing People.

Benefits include:

  • Salary £26,000-£29,000 basic, dependant on experience (£10,000 realistic OTE in first year, uncapped)
