From regular matchday and theatre programmes to awards ceremonies and major events, we have the equipment, capacity and experience to deliver to a deadline.
With litho and digital printing, extensive in-house binding and finishing, and production running 24 hours a day, 363 days a year, your schedule is in safe hands. We plan delivery around where and when your programmes are needed, using our own fleet across the south of England and couriers for destinations further afield.
If artwork arrives later than planned or quantities change, it’s no drama. We’ll always give you a straightforward answer about what’s achievable.
Programme Printing for Hard Deadlines
The doors are opening. The curtain is going up. The match is kicking off. Whatever the event, the date isn’t waiting for the printer.
That’s why programme printing benefits from having as much of the production process as possible under one roof.
We print, fold, stitch, perfect bind and finish programmes in-house, giving our team greater control over production and turnaround. Three saddle stitching lines alone produce around 63.5 million stitched publications each year, giving us significant capacity when quantities are high or deadlines are tight.
For regular programmes, we can also work with you to establish a repeatable specification and production schedule that makes each edition easier to manage.
Programme Printing Made Simple
From weekly fixtures to annual events, programme requirements can vary enormously. Our team can help with the practical side of production so you can concentrate on getting the content ready.
Regular Programme Printing
Producing programmes throughout a season or across a run of performances brings different challenges from ordering a single publication.
We can work with you on regular schedules, quantities and delivery requirements, with an experienced team who get to know the specification. If an edition changes or you need to discuss a deadline, there’s always someone you can actually speak to.
Flexible Programme Quantities
Predicting how many programmes you’ll sell or distribute isn’t always straightforward.
Having digital and litho printing in-house gives us flexibility across different quantities. Smaller runs can be produced efficiently without committing to unnecessary stock, while our litho capacity is there for larger fixtures, productions and events.

Programme Packing & Delivery
Sometimes every programme needs to arrive at one venue. Sometimes copies need to go to several locations, hospitality areas, sponsors or other recipients.
We can accommodate custom packing, split deliveries and multiple destinations, while The Mailing People can provide fulfilment and individual mailing where required.
Programme Printing Tips
Programme production often happens quickly, so decisions made earlier in the process can make the final stages considerably easier.
Work Backwards From Your Event Date
Tell us when the programmes actually need to be at the venue, not simply when you hope to send the artwork.
We can work backwards from that date and advise when files need to arrive, allowing time for printing, binding, finishing and delivery. If the artwork schedule changes, let us know as soon as possible so we can look at the available options.
Think Carefully About Programme Quantities
Ordering too many programmes creates waste. Ordering too few can mean missing sales or leaving visitors without one.
Use previous attendance and sales figures where they’re available, but also consider what’s different about this particular event. For recurring programmes, reviewing quantities between editions can help you adjust future print runs rather than automatically repeating the same order.
Choose Your Binding Around the Page Count
Saddle stitching is particularly well suited to many programmes because it’s quick, economical and works effectively at lower page counts.
For thicker souvenir or commemorative programmes, perfect binding may be more appropriate and provides a printable square spine. We’ll advise what’s practical once we know your pagination and paper choice.
Remember That Programme Page Counts Work Together
For a conventional saddle stitched programme, pages are produced in multiples of four.
It’s worth knowing this while the editorial plan is being built. If you finish with an awkward number of pages, you may need to add or remove content rather than discovering the issue when artwork is ready for print.
Consider How the Programme Will Be Used
A programme bought as a souvenir has a different job from one handed out free at a short event.
Paper, cover weight and finishing can reflect that. A publication intended to be kept may justify a more substantial cover or protective laminate, whereas a programme designed primarily to communicate information on the day may benefit from a simpler, more economical specification.
Plan Advertising Into the Pagination Early
Advertising is an important part of many sports, theatre and event programmes, but late advertising artwork can create problems for the page plan.
Establish the available positions and sizes early, and give advertisers a clear artwork deadline and specification. That leaves more time to deal with missing or unsuitable files before the complete programme has to go to print.

Programme Printing FAQs
What types of programmes can you print?
We print programmes for sport, theatre, awards, conferences, festivals, ceremonies and other events, including regular publications and one-off commemorative or souvenir editions.
How quickly can you print programmes?
Turnaround depends on quantity, pagination, paper, binding and any additional finishing.
Because programmes are frequently produced against fixed event dates, tell us your required delivery date as early as possible. We’ll advise on a realistic production schedule and what options are available if the deadline is particularly tight.
Can you print programmes in small quantities?
Yes. Digital printing allows us to produce smaller quantities economically, while our litho presses provide the capacity and economies of scale required for larger programme runs.
Having both options in-house means we can recommend the production method that makes most sense for your quantity and specification.
What is the best paper for a programme?
It depends on how the programme will be used, its page count and the type of content.
Programmes containing lots of photography may benefit from coated stocks, while uncoated papers provide a different look and feel. Cover and text papers can also be specified separately.
We’ll recommend options based on the publication, quantity and budget rather than simply specifying the heaviest paper available.
What binding is best for programme printing?
Saddle stitching is commonly used for programmes because it’s economical, quick to produce and suitable for many typical page counts. For commemorative programmes and thicker publications, perfect binding adds to the perception of quality.
Your paper selection also affects what’s practical, so we can advise once we know the proposed specification.
Does a programme have to have a page count in multiples of four?
A conventional saddle stitched programme does require the page count to increase or decrease in multiples of four. Each folded sheet creates four pages, so the finished pagination needs to be divisible by four.
Perfect bound publications provide greater flexibility depending on how they’re produced.
Can you print regular matchday or theatre programmes?
Yes. Regular programme production is an area where establishing the specification, schedule and delivery requirements in advance can make subsequent editions much easier to manage.
We can accommodate changing artwork, quantities and delivery requirements across a season or series of
Can you produce souvenir and commemorative programmes?
Yes. We can produce more substantial programmes using different papers, perfect binding and specialist cover finishes including lamination, foiling, embossing and spot UV.
Can you deliver programmes to more than one location?
Yes. We can accommodate split deliveries, custom packing and delivery to multiple destinations.
This can be useful where programmes need to be divided between venues, hospitality areas, offices or other recipients.
Do you offer trade programme printing?
Yes. We regularly work with printers, agencies and brokers who need additional print capacity or access to specialist production equipment.
Our Trade Printing Service is designed to protect your client relationships, with plain packaging, anonymous labels, unbranded delivery and no unexpected contact with your client.
