While the most frequently requested styles (such as half-fold to A5, tri-fold to DL, and Z-fold to DL) fit neatly into leaflet dispensers and standard envelopes, our bespoke service goes beyond the basics. At Bishops Printers, we deliver precise, crisp folds to order.

Types of Folded Leaflet
- Half Fold Leaflets: A single fold down the middle creates four printed pages, ideal for simple, elegant designs.
- Gate Fold Leaflets: Two folds create side panels that open like doors, revealing a central image or message. Perfect for playful or impactful marketing.
- Cross Fold Leaflets: A simple horizontal fold in half, then folded again to create a vertical fold. It creates a cross pattern and is often used for maps, hence the nickname “Map Fold.”
- Roll Fold Leaflets: Vertical parallel folds create panels that are folded inwards towards the centre. This is a popular folding style for tri-fold leaflets (where two folds divide the sheet into three equal panels to create six printed pages).
- Z Fold Leaflets: As the name suggests, the sheet is folded twice with parallel folds to create 6 printed pages that open in a ‘z’ shape. If you increase the number of folds beyond 3, your Z folded leaflet becomes a concertina fold or accordion fold.
- Bespoke Folded Leaflets: Folded leaflets can be fun as well as functional. For product launches, special occasions or simply to stand out, bespoke folded leaflets can be really impactful. Stepped Accordion, Square Folded Cross, Circular Accordion, Twist Fold, Tulip Fold – there are lots of variations you and your designer can explore. Keep in mind bespoke folds may require extra production time and cost due to custom formes and hand finishing.

Leaflet Printing Tips
Choose the Right Paper Weight
For lightweight leaflets, choosing 115gsm to 150gsm paper will reduce tearing and avoid show-through.
Creasing for Heavier Paper
At 170gsm and above, we crease leaflets before folding to avoid cracking along the fold and achieve a crisp finish.
Add Durability
Matt lamination or gloss lamination will make your leaflets last longer. Where there is heavy ink coverage it will also prevent smudging and offsetting, where ink from one sheet rubs off on another during packing and transit.
